Enjoy the Ride of a Lifetime During a Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip
There are three main travel agencies who can book you on a Mendenhall Glacier float trip: Alaska Travel Adventures, Juneau Shore Tours, and Alaska Shore Excursions. Each tour offered costs about the same price and all include the same package.
The tour lasts about 3.5 hours, including a ride to Mendenhall Lake. From the lake, you’ll board your rafts and the ride really begins! You’ll travel through the Mendenhall Valley, greeted by amazing views of the Tongass National Forest. Keep an eye out for any wildlife at the shores. You could see bald eagles, black bears, otters, and so much more! Guests are welcome to choose whether they’d like to paddle with the guide or simply sit back and enjoy the ride.
After your trip, you’ll receive snacks and beverages, including reindeer sausage, cheese, crackers, and salmon spread: all Alaskan classics! You’ll also get a souvenir “I Shot the Mendenhall” pin and the chance to purchase commemorative photos of your ride. The package also includes all the necessary gear for the trip, like raingear, life jackets, and rubber boots.
The tour is available from May to September, and there are multiple departures every day. You’ll want to book early because these tours have been known to sell out!
Other Ways to Experience the Mendenhall Glacier
There are other great ways to get an amazing view of this Alaskan feature! You can book either of these specials through the Silverbow Inn Hotel & Suites. Simply add it to your reservation, and you’ll be all set to have the vacation of a lifetime.
Mendenhall Glacier Blue Trek & Climb
The Mendenhall Glacier Blue Trek & Climb is the longest available day tour on the glacier, capping out at 10 hours. This is for more experienced hikers and those who want to maximize their glacier experience. Guests will hike through the Tongass National Rain Forest and learn how to ice climb.
Mendenhall Glacier Kayak Paddle & Trek
For even more paddling fun, book the Mendenhall Glacier Kayak Paddle & Trek. You’ll have a personal kayak tour that will lead you through ice caves, moulins, and more. This is another great opportunity to get to see some native Alaskan wildlife, like bald eagles or mountain goats!
